Tourists in Cyprus in July: only 1.1% drop. Poland is the third largest market

Tourists in Cyprus in July They came a little less often than the year before, but the scale of the decline was already small. In July 2026, the island was visited by 582,754 tourists, compared to 589,116 in the same month of 2025. This means a decrease of 1.1%.

For Polish readers, data concerning our market is of particular interest. Poland was the third largest source of tourists in July, accounting for 6.3% of all arrivals. During the month, 36,912 people arrived from Poland.

Tourists in Cyprus in July: the decline is decreasing

July brought a much better result than the earlier months of 2026.

The decline in the number of arrivals was 1.1% in July, while in June it was 1.7% and in May 4.9%.

The start of the season was much more challenging. Arrivals were down 27.6% year-on-year in April and 30.7% in March.

The data for July therefore show a clear reduction in the difference compared to last year.

Britain is still definitely first

The UK remains the largest market.

In July it came from there 185,981 tourists, which accounted for 31.9% of all arrivals.

Israel came in second place with a score of 119,293 people and a share of 20.5%.

Next up were:

• Poland – 36,912 tourists, 6.3%
• Germany – 21,338, 3.7%
• Sweden – 19,899, 3.4%

Poland has therefore maintained a very strong position among the island's most important tourist markets.

Fewer Poles than a year ago

However, a comparison with July 2025 also shows a decline on the Polish market.

A year earlier in July it arrived 43,713 tourists from Poland, and this year 36,912.

This means a reduction in the number of arrivals by 15,6%.

By comparison, the UK recorded a 2% decline, Germany a 9.9% decline and Sweden a 2.7% decline.

Israel, on the other hand, saw a significant increase in arrivals – from 76,557 to 119,293, i.e. 55,8%.

From January to July the decline is 8%

The balance sheet for the entire first seven months of the year looks much weaker since July.

From January to July 2026, the island was visited by 2,238,769 touristsA year earlier, during the same period, there were 2,432,129.

This means a decrease of 8%.

However, the July data show that the difference compared to last year is clearly decreasing.

Over 85% come for vacation

The primary reason for the visit remains relaxation.

In July 85.2% of tourists declared holidays as the main purpose of the trip.

Another 11.7% came to visit family or friends, while 3% travelled for business purposes.

The structure has remained virtually unchanged since July 2025.

The island's inhabitants are increasingly traveling abroad

The statistics regarding the travel of Cypriot residents are changing in the opposite direction.

In July 2026, it was recorded 210,047 foreign trips, compared to 186,987 a year earlier.

This is an increase of 12,3%.

The most popular destination remained Greece, which accounted for 38.5% of trips – 80,775 departures.

Next came Great Britain, Italy, Poland and Germany.

Cypriots traveled to Poland in July 7,412 trips, which corresponded to 3.5% of all trips.

Three-quarters of the islanders' foreign trips were for vacation purposes.
