According to the Department of Meteorology, temperatures inland could reach around 40°C. Around 35°C is forecast for the south and east coasts, around 32°C for the west and north, and around 30°C in the highest mountain ranges.

Elderly people, children and people particularly vulnerable to the effects of high temperatures should exercise particular caution.

Current conditions and forecasts for the most important cities and regions of the island can be checked on the website Weather in Cyprus.

Still very warm until Friday

Wednesday will be mostly sunny. More clouds may appear in the afternoon, especially over mountainous areas.

Thursday and Friday will continue to be sunny with occasional cloud cover. Isolated showers are possible in the mountains this afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to gradually drop slightly by Friday. However, they will still remain above average for this part of August.

The weather in Cyprus will change on Saturday

A much bigger change is forecast for Saturday.

Meteorologist Matthaios Papadakis announced that another air mass will move into the region. Combined with increased cloud cover, it is expected to cause a significant drop in temperatures.

Initially, the sky will be partly cloudy, with cloud cover increasing later. Localized rainfall is forecast, and initial data also indicates the possibility of isolated thunderstorms.

Temperatures may drop below values considered normal for the end of August.

This change occurs more often in September

Meteorologists point out that Saturday's change will arrive slightly earlier than similar conditions are usually observed in Cyprus.

More cloud cover, precipitation and a more noticeable cooling at the end of summer appear more often in September.

This time, however, the change is expected to be short-lived. Current forecasts indicate that the more unstable weather will be limited primarily to Saturday.

This is another recent case of unusual weather for August. Recently, Cyprus also had a yellow alert for severe thunderstorms and hail.

Meteorologists emphasize, however, that it's still too early to provide a detailed assessment of conditions in the coming months. Much will depend on how the weather develops throughout the region during the autumn and winter.
