Polish films in Nicosia. One will have its world premiere.

Two Polish films are included in the program of the 21st Cyprus International Film Festival, which will take place in Nicosia from September 21st to 25th. The highlight of the Polish festival will be the world premiere of the short film "PARADISOS" by Magdalena Dziuk.

A few days later, Cypriot audiences will also be able to see Piotrek Gołębiowski's feature-length film. The festival will run for five days at the Melina Merkouri Cultural Hall, and admission to all screenings and events will be free.

World premiere of the Polish film "PARADISOS"

The first Polish accent of the festival will be "PARADISOS" directed by Magdalena Dziuk.

This is a short, 11-minute production from 2026. The organizers included it in the program for Tuesday, September 22, in the screening block scheduled from 10:00 to 14:30.

The Nicosia show was marked in the official program as World Premiere, the film's world premiere. Cypriot audiences will be the first to see the production during its official festival screening.

On the same day, films from Canada, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States, and Cyprus will also be screened. Several other productions will also have their world premieres in Nicosia.

The second Polish film is 90 minutes long

It won't end with just one Polish accent. Thursday, September 24, a film will be shown "Not Only For The Ladies: The Fantastic Adventures of Miss Cleopatra" directed by Piotrek Gołębiowski.

Thursday's screening block will start at 7:00 p.m. 10:00 and will last until 2:30 p.m. The Polish film is included in the program alongside productions from Greece, Germany, Great Britain, Cyprus, and Spain.

Five days of cinema in the center of Nicosia

Cyprus International Film Festival will take place now for the 21st time. This year's edition will run from Monday, September 21st to Friday, September 25th. Melina Merkouri Cultural Hall on Athinas Street in Nicosia.

The international competition is just one part of the event. Organizers have also prepared a special presentation of Chinese cinema. One of the highlights of the program will be the world premiere of the film. “La Croix (Crossroads)” by Hu Xueyang.

A separate section of the festival is dedicated to Cyprus and the events of 1974. The stories of those who experienced that period are intended to become a starting point for a conversation about the memory, identity, and experiences of the island's inhabitants.

The program also included a documentary "Queens of Cyprus" by Panikos Michael Panayiotou, about Cypriot women, loss, resilience and the importance of home.

Not just film screenings

CYIFF goes beyond competitive screenings. A photography exhibition will also be held during the festival. "Things We Pass By", prepared in cooperation with the Nicosia branch of the Cyprus Photographic Society.

Events dedicated to women working in film and television are also planned. The program will include the Cyprus Women Environmental Peacemakers project, which uses culture, dialogue, and environmental action as tools for community collaboration.

The novelty of this year's edition is also Monologue Challenge aimed at actors and performers.

The festival will end on Friday September 25 ceremony Golden Aphrodite Awards, during which the best films and creators of the 21st edition of the event will be recognized.

This is another Polish presence on the screens of Nicosia

The Cyprus International Film Festival will not be the only September event in the capital with Polish participation. The day before, on September 23, a Polish film will also be shown during the "Languages on Screen - Cinema Speaks Europe" festival. "Science" by Emi Buchwald.

This means that in just a few days in Nicosia you will be able to see three Polish productions presented at two different film events.

From the perspective of the Polish inhabitants of the island, two days of the festival are particularly worth highlighting:
