Nissi Beach is the most Instagrammable beach in Cyprus. 11th in the world.

Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa has been named the most Instagrammable beach in Cyprus. In a ranking prepared by Hot Spring Spas NZ, the popular beach ranked 11th in the world, outperforming the vast majority of the locations analyzed.

On Instagram, 258,371 posts related to Nissi Beach were found. With a beach length of 675 meters, this translates to an average of 383 posts per meter of coastline. This metric determined the ranking.

Nissi Beach just behind the world leaders

The study included over 160 famous beaches, and those with at least 50,000 Instagram posts qualified for the final ranking.

The highest was Bondi Beach in Australia, which has amassed over two million publications. Next in line were Venice Beach in the USA and Coogee Beach in Australia.

Nissi Beach was the only beach in Cyprus to make it into the global TOP 20.

Fig Tree Bay also high

The second Cypriot beach on the list was Fig Tree Bay in Protaras.

There were 59,696 posts related to it. With a length of 818 meters, this means approximately 73 publications per meter and 60th in the world.

Thanks to the result of Nissi Beach, Cyprus was placed on eighth place out of 36 countries, taking into account the highest ranked beach from each country.

What determined your place in the ranking?

The authors of the list did not compare only the total number of posts.

The number of posts was compared to the length of each beach. This allowed smaller spots with very high social media popularity to compete with long, well-known beaches.

Instagram data was collected on August 5, while the length of the beaches was determined based on OpenStreetMap.

According to the authors of the study, the popularity of places is primarily influenced by easy access and attractive views – and in this respect, Nissi Beach has been one of the most recognizable beaches on the island for years.

The ranking doesn't say which beach is "the best," of course. It does, however, show which places are most often featured in photos posted by visitors.
