The best markets in Cyprus. Where to go shopping?

Markets and local bazaars are one of the best places to experience the real Cyprus. This is where locals buy fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese, olive oil, honey, and spices, often directly from local producers.

For Poles living on the island, it's also a great way to shop cheaper. In season, fruit and vegetables at markets can cost up to 30-40% less than in supermarkets.

Limassol – the largest selection

If you're staying in Limassol, the Saturday market near the Old Port is worth a visit. It's one of the largest and most famous markets in Cyprus.

You'll find fresh fruit and vegetables, cheeses, olives, honey, spices, bread, and local delicacies. Many vendors are producers from surrounding villages, so the products are fresh and seasonal.

Nicosia – a paradise for lovers of local products

The largest market on the island is the OXI Farmers Market in Nicosia.

This is a place where you can buy practically anything from the early morning hours – from fresh vegetables and fruit to halloumi, herbs, nuts and traditional Cypriot sweets.

Larnaca

In the center of Larnaca there is a Municipal Market where you can buy fresh food and local products every day.

Additionally, markets are organized on weekends with a larger selection of seasonal products and goods from local producers.

Paphos

In Paphos, it is worth visiting the market near the old town.

It's a good place to buy fresh vegetables, fruit, olive oil, spices, and handicrafts. There are also many small shops nearby selling local produce.

It's worth knowing

It's best to visit most Cypriot markets in the morning – that's when the selection is widest and the produce is freshest. Many stalls only accept cash, so it's worth carrying a few notes and coins.

What is worth buying?

At the fair, it is worth looking for, above all:
