Video Game Exhibition in Nicosia: Consoles, Computers, and Pixels from Years Past
The Nicosia Video Games Exhibition will take visitors on a journey from the first home consoles and personal computers to modern gaming platforms. "The History of Video Games" opens on Saturday, September 12th in the foyer of the Pallas Theatre at Paphos Gate. Admission is free.
The exhibition will be open to the public throughout the weekend, and then from Tuesday to Thursday, September 15–17. Organizers are announcing devices from various eras that will demonstrate how gaming has transformed technology, entertainment, and culture for generations.

From the first consoles to modern gaming
“The History of Video Games” is intended to be a journey through several decades of the development of electronic entertainment and personal computers.
The exhibition will feature a selection of consoles, computers, and other devices from various eras. The exhibition begins with the first home systems and the iconic pixel era, and continues with newer generations of gaming platforms.
Each device on display is part of a larger story of technological advancement, creativity, and entertainment. For many visitors, it may also serve as a reminder of a time when playing together in front of a single screen was very different from today.
Exhibits from two museums
The exhibition is organised by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation in cooperation with the Video Games Museum of Crete and the Cyprus Computer Museum.
The Video Games Museum of Crete is the first museum in Greece dedicated to the history and culture of video games. Its collection includes over 400 consoles, as well as rare games, controllers, publications, and artifacts related to the evolution of gaming.
The Cyprus Computer Museum, a non-profit educational organization, has been operating in Nicosia since 2018. Its permanent exhibition focuses on the history of personal computers, digital technology, and gaming culture.
A selected part of the collections of both institutions will be shown at the Pallas Theatre.
Video game exhibition in Nicosia for five days
The exhibition will be open to visitors on the following dates:
- Saturday, September 12: 10:00–13:00 and 16:00–19:00,
- Sunday, September 13: 10:00–13:00 and 16:00–19:00,
- Tuesday–Thursday, September 15–17: 18:00–20:00.
The exhibition will be held in the foyer of the Pallas Theatre at Paphos Gate. The address is 24 Rigainis, Nicosia.
There is no entry fee, and organizers do not require advance reservations.

The exhibition has been prepared both for people who grew up with a controller in their hands and for younger visitors who want to see the beginnings of one of the most important forms of modern entertainment.
