Why is it worth getting it done in Cyprus?
Although Polish offices can request this information directly from Cypriot institutions, in practice the entire process may take much longer.
If you have a PD U1 form upon returning to Poland, the employment office can verify your employment period more quickly. The European Commission itself emphasizes that the document is not mandatory, but it significantly speeds up the procedure.
Where to submit an application?
The application is submitted to Social Insurance Services operating at the Cypriot Ministry of Labour and Social Security.

Does everyone need a form?
Not always.
If you start working immediately after returning to Poland, you will probably never need it.
However, if you're planning to register as unemployed or haven't found a new job yet, it's worth having it ready. You never know when you'll need it.
How much is?
The issuance of the PD U1 form is free of charge.
However, it is worth remembering that its preparation may take time, so it is better not to leave it until the last days before leaving Cyprus.
It's worth knowing
Form PD U1 It does not automatically entitle you to unemployment benefits. It only confirms periods of employment and insurance in Cyprus. The regulations in force in the country where you apply determine whether you receive benefits.
It's better to have it and not need it
If you are planning to return permanently from Cyprus to Poland, obtaining the PD U1 form is one of the formalities that is worth checking off before leaving.
Even if the document is not ultimately needed, obtaining it in advance can make it much easier to deal with official matters after returning to the country.
