Wizz Air is bringing back its third flight from Modlin to Paphos. Together with Ryanair, this will bring the total to eight flights per week.

Passengers traveling between Poland and Cyprus will once again have more travel dates to choose from. Wizz Air is ending its seasonal reduction in the number of flights on the Warsaw-Modlin-Paphos route.

For most of the summer, Wizz Air only flew this route twice a week – on Tuesdays and Saturdays. With the reinstatement of the Thursday rotation, the airline will once again offer three weekly flights. Ryanair currently operates up to five flights per week on the Modlin-Paphos route, which could mean a total of eight direct connections per week.

Three Wizz Air connections a week

Originally, the Warsaw-Modlin-Paphos route was planned with three flights per week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

However, Wizz Air adjusted its offering in the spring. First, Tuesday flights were briefly removed from the schedule, and from June 9th, Thursday flights were suspended. For most of the summer season, the carrier operated the route twice a week.

The restriction was supposed to last until mid-September. The Thursday service returned on September 10th, meaning three weekly flights would resume.

The connection is listed in Wizz Air's booking system. However, passengers should always check flight availability for a specific date, as the frequency may vary depending on the week and season.

Ryanair offers up to five flights a week

Ryanair also operates the Warsaw-Modlin-Paphos route. According to current data for direct flights from Warsaw to Paphos, the Irish carrier offers up to five flights per week.

Flights are available on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Five rotations spread over four days mean that more than one flight operates on a given day.

With the reinstatement of Wizz Air’s third rotation, both carriers can offer a total of up to eight direct flights a week between Modlin and Paphos.

This doesn't mean, however, that this frequency will be maintained year-round. Airlines adjust the number of flights as they transition between summer and winter schedules, and individual connections may be added or removed in specific weeks.

An important route for Poles living in Cyprus

The connection from Modlin to Paphos is important not only for tourists visiting the western part of the island.

It is also used by Poles living in the Paphos and Limassol regions, for whom traveling to Paphos Airport is usually more convenient than traveling to Larnaca. The route is used for family visits, business trips, and short trips to Poland.

An extra day of flying provides greater flexibility when planning your trip. Competition between two carriers on the same route can also increase the choice of times and prices, although ticket costs still depend on the date, demand, and availability.

Wizz Air returns to Modlin after 13 years

Wizz Air has resumed operations from Warsaw Modlin Airport after a 13-year hiatus. The carrier has decided to base two Airbus aircraft there and launch connections to more than a dozen European cities, including Paphos.

At the same time, Ryanair is expanding its presence in Modlin. The carrier has announced an increase in the number of aircraft based at the airport and further expansion of its route network.

For passengers travelling to Cyprus, this means that Paphos remains one of the island's airports with the best connections to Poland.

Flights to Larnaca were also previously restricted.

Wizz Air's spring adjustments weren't limited to Paphos. The carrier also reduced the number of selected routes from Wrocław, Gdańsk, and Katowice to Larnaca. These changes were part of an adjustment to its summer flight network from Poland.

Airline schedules may be updated even after ticket sales begin. Before purchasing, it's worth checking not only the price but also the flight dates and destination airport.

Paphos and Larnaca are approximately 130 kilometres apart, so changing airports may mean having to arrange a longer transfer across the island.
