Welcome back to Cyprus, Karol! English will play in Nea Salamina

Karol Angielski is returning to Cyprus. The 30-year-old Polish striker has signed a contract with Nea Salamina Famagusta, which has returned to the top flight after promotion. The contract runs until June 2027.

For the Pole, this will be a return to a well-known league. From 2024 to 2026, the Englishman played for AEK Larnaca, with whom he won the Cypriot Cup and Super Cup. Now he's swapping Szczecin for Larnaca and will try to rebuild his position with the newly promoted club.

Charles of England returns to Cyprus

The transfer was confirmed on August 31, a day after the player terminated his contract with Pogoń Szczecin by mutual consent.

His time in Szczecin wasn't the most successful period of his career. English made 11 appearances and scored one goal. He hasn't yet been included in Pogoń's matchday squad this season.

However, he has much better memories in Cyprus.

Two seasons at AEK Larnaca

The Polish striker played for AEK Larnaca 49 matches, scored 13 goals and made two assists.

With the club he won the Cypriot Cup and later the Super Cup, in which he was also among the scorers.

English also played in European competitions. He scored two goals in the Europa League qualifiers, including one against Legia Warsaw, where AEK eliminated the Polish side in the third qualifying round.

A new chapter in Nea Salamina

Nea Salamina won the 2025/26 Second Division and earned a return to the Cyprus League. They started the new season with a draw 3:3 with Olympiakos Nicosia.

English isn't guaranteed a starting spot – the team already faces stiff competition in attack. However, his experience in the Cypriot league remains a major asset.

For Polish fans living on the island, this means another compatriot who will be able to watch at local stadiums.
