Szymon Wydra has been returning to Cyprus for years. He has recorded three music videos here.

Szymon Wydra and the band Carpe Diem have much more in common with Cyprus than a single concert or a holiday visit. The musicians have visited the island numerous times, played for Polish audiences, and even used the Cypriot landscape as a filming location for their music videos.

Music videos for at least three of the band's songs were shot in Cyprus: "Świat Jaki Zna," "To nie koniec," and "Przedczas." The last of these was released in November 2024, and in the description of the official music video, the band explicitly states that the material was shot in picturesque Cyprus.

Szymon Wydra recorded music videos in Cyprus

One of the first was "The World I Know." The song was released in 2021, and the music video was recorded on the island.

Szymon Wydra himself told "Super Express" before the premiere that the film was shot on location in the desert and seaside areas of Cyprus. The film was shot during the difficult period of pandemic restrictions, so the production itself required careful planning of the trip to the island.

Cyprus, however, did not turn out to be a one-off film set.

The next video recorded on the island was "To nie koniec" (It's Not the End). The band once again utilized the distinctive Cypriot landscapes, presenting them to Polish audiences in a completely different context than traditional tourist footage.

In 2024 it was time for the next project.

"Ahead of Time." Cyprus stars again in the music video

In November 2024, Szymon Wydra & Carpe Diem released a music video for the song "Przedczas".

This time, there's no need to even look for additional confirmation of the location. The band's official channel's description states that the music video was shot in Cyprus.

The clip was published on November 12, 2024. It was produced by lilKangoo Media, and the music was composed by Zbigniew Suski, Szymon Wydra, and Jarosław Suski.

This is the third known music video associated with the island. Previous videos include "Świat jako Zna" (The World I Know) and "To nie koniec" (That's Not the End).

This makes Szymon Wydra's story in Cyprus different from that of many other Polish artists visiting the island. It's not just about vacation photos or a single performance. Cyprus has become a part of the band's work, and its landscapes have found their way into official music materials.

First there were also concerts

Carpe Diem's connection with the island is not limited to music videos, however.

On January 12, 2020, Szymon Wydra performed acoustically in Limassol. The band's official website lists the venue as Dasoudi Restaurant. The concert took place during the 28th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, which was then held in Cyprus.

The band returned to the island the following year. In July 2021, the musicians performed in Limassol, Paphos, and Ayia Napa.

Subsequent visits began to form a much longer story: concerts, returns to the island and further musical productions.

Who is Szymon Wydra?

Szymon Wydra is one of the most recognizable Polish vocalists who gained nationwide popularity at the beginning of the 21st century.

He became known to a wider audience thanks to the first season of the TV show "Idol." With the band Carpe Diem, he later recorded songs that became a permanent part of Polish popular music.

Some of the most famous songs include "Życie jak poemat," "Teraz Ziemi," "Bezczas," "Gdzie jesteś dziś," and "Jak ja jej to mojego to" (How I'll Tell Her). The band's official website also highlights their awards, including the Eska Music Awards, the Złoty Dziób Radio Wawa (Radio Wawa Golden Beak), and the Superjednostka (Superjednostka).

Cyprus remained in their music

In the case of Szymon Wydra, we can therefore speak of something more than just another visit of a famous Pole to the island.

First, they performed for audiences in Cyprus. Later, the island began to regularly appear in Carpe Diem's music videos.

"The World I Know", "It's Not the End" and "The Time Before" make Cypriot landscapes visible in the band's official videography.

This means that even years after a trip to the island, something more remains than a vacation photo. In this case, Cyprus became part of the musical history of Szymon Wydra and Carpe Diem.
