KOMBII in Cyprus. Aphrodite's Rock Made It Into a Polish Music Video

KOMBII also has a distinct Cypriot touch. The band used their trip to Paphos to film the music video for the song "Colors Dance in Your Eyes," which features some of the island's most recognizable landscapes.

The sea, beaches, Cypriot sun, orange orchards, and the area around the famous Aphrodite's Rock – all of this can be found in the material published in 2011. As a result, after more than a decade, the clip is also an interesting musical postcard from Cyprus.

KOMBII arrived in Paphos

"Colors Dance in Your Eyes" comes from the album "O miłość," released in 2010. It was the third single promoting the album.

A music video was created for the song, the photos of which were taken during the band's holiday stay in Cyprus.

The team stayed in the Paphos area, but didn't limit themselves to a single resort or hotel setting.

The creators set out with cameras around the area, taking advantage of the natural landscapes of the western part of the island.

And that is why, after all these years, you can still recognize places in the clip that are well known to both Cypriot residents and tourists.

Aphrodite's Rock was featured in the music video

One of the most characteristic points used during the filming was the area around Aphrodite's Rock.

It was there that the dance scenes were filmed against the sea backdrop. The dancers performed in unusual styles using body painting.

The location itself could not have been accidental.

The area around Paphos is strongly linked to the myth of Aphrodite, and the distinctive rock on the southwestern coast is one of the most famous postcard sites in Cyprus.

In the Polish music video, however, she was given a completely different role – she was not a tourist attraction shown in a guidebook, but part of a colorful musical story.

Sea, beach and orange orchards

Cyprus in KOMBII's video does not end with one characteristic place.

The materials about the production also mentioned scenes shot by the sea, on the beach and among orange orchards.

This makes “Colors Dancing in Your Eyes” show several different faces of the island.

On one side, we have the characteristic rocky coastline. On the other, greener landscapes that many people don't associate with their first image of Cyprus.

Everything is combined with the intensely colorful style of the video, corresponding to the song's title.

The producer also worked on music videos for artists such as Patrycja Markowska, Ania Wyszkoni, Marek Piekarczyk, Video and former Genesis vocalist Ray Wilson.

The Cypriot production of KOMBII was therefore a professional musical production, and not material created accidentally during a holiday stay.

The natural light and landscapes of the island became a consciously used element of the entire concept.

Who is KOMBII?

KOMBII was founded in 2003 on the initiative of Grzegorz Skawiński, Waldemar Tkaczyk and Jan Pluta – musicians previously associated with the band Kombi.

The new group was to create its own repertoire while also drawing on the musical experience of its founders. KOMBII's first major concert took place in 2003 at the Forest Opera in Sopot.

In the following years, the band released, among others, the albums "c.d." and "O miłość".

It is from the latter that "Colors Dance in Your Eyes" comes. The music was written by Grzegorz Skawiński, and the lyrics by Jacek Cygan.

Cyprus has been in the team's history

Today, the music video has additional value.

For KOMBII fans, it's one of the band's music videos. For those living in Cyprus, it can be a fun way to recognize familiar places.

And for tourists – it is proof that places visited later during holidays have already found their way into Polish pop culture a dozen or so years ago.

In the case of KOMBII we have more than just information that famous musicians visited Cyprus.

The band took a camera with them, and Paphos and the surrounding area became a permanent part of their official videography.
