Nine Christmas Villages in Cyprus. We Know the Locations and Dates

Christmas Villages in Cyprus will return on November 21, 2026. This season, Christmas decorations, wooden stalls, workshops and local delicacies will appear in nine towns located in all districts of the Republic of Cyprus.

The list was announced by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. It includes popular mountain resorts, traditional stone villages, and Deryneia, which will bring holiday attractions much closer to Famagusta, Paralimni, Protaras, and Ayia Napa.

Christmas Villages in Cyprus in 2026

This year's edition of the program will feature:

• Agros – Limassol District,
• Deryneia – Famagusta district,
• Fikardou – Nicosia District,
• Kakopetria – Nicosia District,
• Kalopanayiotis – Nicosia District,
• Kyperounta – Limassol District,
• Lefkara – Larnaca district,
• Lofou – Limassol District,
• Statos–Agios Fotios – Paphos district.

They will not be open every day throughout the period

This is important information for those planning a trip. The Christmas Villages will open on November 21st, but initially they will be open primarily to on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Daily operation of all holiday resorts is planned for the period from December 21, 2026 to January 6, 2027 inclusive.

This also doesn't mean that all booths, workshops, and performances in each village will be open at the same time. Detailed programs for each village will be released gradually. Before you go, it's worth checking not only the date but also the opening hours and schedule of planned attractions.

What can we find in Christmas villages?

Cypriot Christmas villages aren't just small markets set up in a central square. Entire towns are given a festive look – their streets, squares, traditional houses, restaurants, and the workshops of local artisans.

The Deputy Ministry of Tourism announces, among other things:

• stands with local products and handicrafts,
• Christmas dishes, sweets and drinks,
• culinary and craft workshops,
• demonstrations of traditional professions,
• guided tours of towns,
• walks along nature trails,
• organized bicycle trips,
• cultural events,
• musical performances,
• attractions intended for children.

Local restaurants and accommodations will also participate in the program. Some will prepare special holiday menus and additional accompanying events.

Most of the offers are in the mountains

A significant number of Christmas villages are located in the Troodos Mountains or their foothills. Agros, Kakopetria, Kalopanayiotis, and Kyperounta are already among the island's most popular winter destinations, attracting visitors with their cooler temperatures, stone architecture, mountainous landscapes, and local cuisine.

Lefkara is known primarily for its traditional lace and distinctive architecture. Lofou is distinguished by its restored stone houses and narrow streets, while Fikardou is considered one of the best-preserved traditional villages on the island.

Statos–Agios Fotios represents the Paphos district and is renowned for its local produce, wines, cheeses, and agricultural traditions. Deryneia will be the only village in this year's edition located in the eastern part of the island and one of the most easily accessible for residents and tourists staying in the Famagusta area.

Holidays different than in Poland

A Christmas trip to a Cypriot village is different from a visit to a large market in Poland, Germany, or Austria. Instead of one vast square with dozens of similar stalls, visitors move throughout the entire town.

In one place, you might find a craft workshop, in another a tasting of local products, and even further afield a musical performance or children's activities. Walks, local tours, and presentations on local history are also a large part of the program.

Snow isn't guaranteed, of course. However, it can be significantly colder in higher-elevation towns than on the coast, especially in the evenings. Before heading out, it's worth checking the forecast and road conditions, and bringing warmer clothes.

The program supports destinations outside the season

The Christmas village project aims not only to create a festive atmosphere, but also to encourage residents and tourists to visit smaller towns outside the main holiday season.

The program promotes local gastronomy, handicrafts, farms, small family businesses, and accommodations. For many towns, the period from late November to early January becomes one of the most important moments of the winter season.
